Clarifying vs. Chelating

Clarifying vs. Chelating
Ever wonder what the real difference was between a clarifying shampoo and a chelating shampoo?  I did.  I knew that they are both used to remove ‘stuff’ from the hair but when should one be used over the other or were they interchangeable?  I needed answers to those questions and I decided to do a little research which I will share here in case anyone else has the same questions. Clarifying Clarifying is a deep cleansing.  It is the process whereby you remove buildup from the surface of the hair.  Buildup includes grease, silicones, product, sebum, and dirt.   Clarifying...

Style Snapshot: Spiral Curls

Style Snapshot: Spiral Curls
Some weeks ago I tried a straw set using a different product and a new technique.  I used the Miss Jessie’s Curly Meringue and when I wrapped the hair around the Strawllers I did it so that the hair only covered the half of the roller closest to my scalp.  My intent was to create a tighter, shorter curl to give the appearance of a short naturally curly bob.  I was desperate to find a use for the Curly Meringue and to be honest I was impressed with the tight curls I was able to achieve with the this product (if you’re interested you can check out the full review here). Incorporating Winter Into My Regimen

Ok so everybody in temperate climates is starting to or already changing up their regimen for the winter months.  Here in Canada our winters are nowhere on the mild side so we have to be especially cognizant of preserving our hair during the long winter months.   I’ll talk about products in another post, but today I wanted to highlight some other aspects that we may not think about that I’ll be incorporating when it comes to my winter regimen. Headgear - We all know that hats, caps, headwraps etc. are great for protecting our hair and shielding it from the cold air which can dry it...
