Strawllers

Strawllers
Photo by: Strawllers I caught a glimpse of these while watching a video on Nubian Fitness Goddess’ blog.  She featured a segment by Robin Robinson of Chicago Fox News entitled Great Hair Style or Exercise.  Solving the Dilemma. During that video they were doing a straw set but not with straws.  They were using rollers that looked like straws!  I’ve always wanted to try a straw set, but felt that regular straws were 1) too flimsy and 2) I’d be buying straws all the time (not great for the environment).  At one point I thought about using slurpy straws – you know the thick...

Freshly Relaxed

Freshly Relaxed
I got my relaxer today!  It was definitely time…my hair was singing to me.   The relaxer itself went fairly well..I got a couple burns and I also got a corrective relaxer to correct those under-processed parts.  Turns out my hair was more kinky than straight so my stylist went over all of my hair with relaxer but before you scream that she’s whacko to do that, let me explain how she did it. Wash Day: Blowdry & Rollerset

Wash Day: Blowdry & Rollerset
This post is a little late.  I didn’t get to do my weekend wash but I did do it on Tuesday.  I did an oil treatment with VO5, shampooed once with the KMS Head Remedy cause I had the itchies then shampooed with Kenra Moisturizing Shampoo.    After the KMS my hair felt really coated.  I felt like the benefits of the oil treatment were negated.   Anyway I had to continue, I did the Aphogee 2-min, and then deep conditioned with Mizani Moisturefuse and avocado oil for 30 mins.  After the 30 mins I went to wash out my hair and realised that it was tangled and felt a mess.  Once again I...

Abandoning This Stretch

I’ll be relaxing in 2 days!!!  My hair is very thick and big!  It really needs to be tamed so I’ve decided to abandon the 12 week stretch and relax at 10 weeks instead.  My hair is speaking to me and I should listen before it starts to rebel anymore.   Once my length returns I’ll re-evaluate stretching for longer periods.

My New Applicator Brush

My New Applicator Brush
I’ve tried the regular applicator brush that you get from the beauty supply store, however I used it once and retired it because it would snag my hair. Since then I’ve been thinking about what would be a suitable replacement. I thought about regular pastry brushes with the bristles but figured they would cause the same problem. Then  I thought about paint brushes but never followed through with it. But yesterday while in the kitchen supply store, as I was caressing a silicone pastry brush and admiring how soft and smooth it was I had an epiphany! This would be perfect for applying...
